BATTLE of BRITAIN
Saturday, 3rd July 2010 at 7:30pm - Alban Arena |
There are certain events in history where the future of the nations seems very delicately balanced with "the few" responsible for the destiny of the many. The Battle of Britain is one such event.
After a full house for their Glory of Easter concert at the Arena, Adoramus will return for a very special concert commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Their programme will include Goodwin's Battle of Britain Suite, Elgar's Pomp & Circumstance March No.1, Alford's RAF March Past, Wood's Fantasia on British Sea Songs and John William's Hymn for the Fallen from the film Saving Private Ryan with the Beaumont School Vocal Ensemble contributing some wartime favourites. Adoramus is privileged to be working with the Royal Air Force Chaplaincy with the concert being introduced by their Chaplain-in-Chief, the Venerable Ray Pentland QHC BA DipPS MTh, who will also be drawing parallels between aspects of the Battle of Britain and his faith.

The GLORY of EASTER |
Adoramus was invited by Churches Across Watford to put on this programme of popular arias, choruses and orchestral classics which was last performed to a full house at the Alban Arena. We were joined by three local school choirs.
It was very well received by the audience with wonderful performances from the choir, orchestra and soloists. The highlight of the evening was when the Colosseum swelled with the sound of over 1000 voices singing Thine be the Glory in praise to God.
The following week Adoramus returned to the Alban Arena as part of the local churches' Passion for Live events to perform the same programme. Once again the audience packed the venue and thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

Christmas Prom Concert |
Adoramus was delighted to be back in Enfield for its Christmas concert. The venue had three balcony levels giving our audience the opportunity to 'prom' for the first time.
The sparkling programme packed with Christmas favorites was hosted by radio DJ and composer John Pantry with whom we have previously recorded a CD.
The concert was recorded by Premier Radio and broadcast on Christmas Day.

Celebrate Christmas |
Adoramus held its Christmas concert at Dame Alice Owen's School in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.
The audience joined in with their favourite carols and the programme also included a variety of seasonal music such as the traditional 'O Holy Night' and modern carols by Karl Jenkins. The orchestra were in top form and thrilled everyone with their performances of 'Sleighride', 'Winterlust' and the overture from 'The Barber of Seville'.
Thanks to Christchurch Little Heath for their support for this concert and to Steve Rees, their minister, who gave a thought provoking 'Thought for Christmas'.

Before his popular broadcasting career with Premier Radio, John Pantry was one of the seminal figures in the development of British Christian music.
In November 2008 Adoramus was delighted to work with Christopher Norton and record this hugely enjoyable collection of 17 new songs and choral pieces from John written for the glory of God.
